The offence of break and entering with intent to commit an offence captures 2 different scenarios: (i) break and enter into a residential dwelling house which is punishable to a maximum sentence to life imprisonment and (ii) break and enter into any place other than a residential dwelling house which is punishable to a maximum sentence of 10 years.
