Appeal: conviction overturned and new trial ordered

Our office recently won a complex appeal involving an accused convicted of serious prostitution related offences.

The Court of Appeal agreed with Mr. Mirza that the trial judge failed to give a critical instruction to the jury regarding propensity reasoning.  As a result, a new trial was ordered.

The importance of the Court of Appeal’s ruling in this case was highlighted in the Lawyers Weekly publication.
